Two Blue-winged Warblers were
singing today at Rutherford's Pond, downstream from
the Weir Dam in TVA's Big Bend site near the South
Fork Holston River, Sullivan Co.

The Blue-wings were around the shore of the big
woodland pond. It was also interesting to see seven
(7) pink azaleas (Pinxter-flowers) in blazing
full bloom. Most of them were 8 to 10 feet tall.
Pinxte-flowers grow all along the mountain road
to Mendota Lookout on the eastern face of Clinch
Mountains. But, away from the mountains, they grow
in swamps like Rutherford's Pond.

Blue-wings like wet areas in spring.

Two Ospreys were calling while hunting low over the
river at the cliffs.
