Area birders, Rob Biller telephone at 9:53 p.m. tonight, to say he was coming in from the field after birding with Don Holt and having fish dinner out with Don. He is facing a 5:30 a.m. start time for tomorrows field trip at David Crocket State Park. Rob asked me to post that the Black-bellied Plover was still at West View Ponds across from West View School in Washington Co., TN tonight. Rob was headed straight to bed and wanted to crash without having to get on his computer ;-) The plover is not doing so well either. It flew about the pond area and hit a single strand of utility line which was strung between poles. Then it regained its composure enough to turn back towards the pond and hit the same wire again for a second time. Even at that, Rob said it made a controlled landing but he does not know how the bird could hit that wire twice, let alone not get hurt. Let's go birding......
