The Bristol Bird Club will enjoy a fun Black Saturday Field Trip Saturday,
28 November, 2015. We will meet at 8:30 a.m. in the Cootie Brown's
Restaurant parking lot in Bristol Tennessee. The restaurant is located one
block from State Street on the Volunteer Parkway. This is in sight of the
Bristol Chamber of Commerce and Commonwealth Ave. of Bristol Virginia. If
you are coming from Virginia on I-81 take the I-381 exit straight downtown
and it is on the right.

Dr. Andy Jones and Chris O'Bryan will be the field trip leaders for the
morning. Dr. Jones is Curator of Birds and Director of Science at the
Cleveland (OH) Museum of Natural History. O'Bryan is a Fisheries and
Wildlife Research Biologist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission at the Lake Placid field office. Chris has been awarded a
prestigious graduate program to study for a Ph.D. at the world famous
University of Queensland, Australia, in April 2016. This will not only be a
bird finding event but also an interpretive birding experience and you will
enjoy a relaxed and casual atmosphere where you can chat and visit with
other birders and our guest field trip leaders.

The field trip will bird several nearby water areas in Eastern Sullivan
County, TN and bird mostly at the will of participants. We hope to see the
American White Pelican at Middlebrook Lake and the apparent Selasphorus
hummingbird present for about a week at Musick's Campground. If the group is
not too large and there is enough interest, a short birding trip by float
boat may be included. We have to arrange for fuel, etc. and the marina has
not been open today. Lunch will be at one of several nearby sub shops, pizza
restaurants or even Cootie Brown's. We will visit several good water
birding areas that are productive this time of year.

The weather should be comfortable and attractive/active for birds.

Hope to see you there. For more information you may call my cell at
423-360-2532.
