* JOLLY PUMPKIN FIRKIN AT AROMAS
Join me on Wednesday, December 20 at 6 PM for a special tapping of a rare,
cask-conditioned version of Jolly Pumpkin Luciernaga "The Firefly" Ale (6.5%
abv). This incredibly complex beer is an artisan pale ale brewed in the "Grand
Cru" tradition. Its golden effervescence and gentle hop aroma are quite
elegant, and additions of coriander and Grains of Paradise round out the spicy
palate, melting softly into a finish of hoppiness and bliss. My favorite part
is the earthy complexity imparted by Brettanomyces yeast strains. This beer
makes any season a celebration. $3 pints will go fast at Aromas in Five
Points, Athens, GA. Owen Ogletree, Kerri "The Beer Wench" Allen and Larry
Johnson (beer styles writer for Southern Brew News) will all be on hand at this
special holiday gathering, and two coveted passes to the booked-up Atlanta Cask
Ale Tasting will be given away as door prizes!

From http://jollypumpkin.com/ (Dexter, Michigan) -- "Welcome to a land of open
fermentation, oak barrel aging, and bottle conditioning. At Jolly Pumpkin
Artisan Ales we are dedicated to more than the traditions of old world
craftsmanship. Everything we do is designed to create ales of outstanding art
and flavor. Focusing on traditional rustic country style beers brought to life
through labor and love, we strive to create beers to lighten the spirit, and
soothe the soul."

* NE GEORGIA BREWPUB UPDATE
There is no better place to find fresh beer than a brewpub. Brewpubs are
restaurants that have a small brewery on site, and a range of house beers is
produced to accompany the menu items. Most brewpubs offer a sampler tray with
all their beers presented in 4-5 ounce glasses. Traveling beer lovers find
great joy in seeking out new brewpubs in which to sample the edibles and the
range of indigenous beers while admiring the gleaming (yet small) copper brew
kettles. This article is a guide to the Georgia brewpubs that are in easy range
(for your designated driver) from Athens. Click on the link below for all the
details...
