Hi Marissa

My experience of charging Apex is that it takes longer to charge than the 
mpower but this does not explain what's happening to your device. For a new 
unit you should not be having this problem. If this problem persists I believe 
you should get back in touch with Humanware to see what they have to say about 
it.
