The developers just tell me there are some nice features we could use on the UTD Java library and BrailleBlaster will depend on that soon. Java 6 is really getting old and Java 7 is near it’s EOL status. We’ve been living with Java 6 in BrailleBlaster but have had to make some compromises to stay with it. So, I don’t know what might be considered compelling but there have been improvements in the last four years both in terms of performance and features. Several of us are already building Bb using the Java 8 JDK though so it should work.
