Which do you think is less of a burden on Cpu? it seems like even thoiugh I have good memory and hard drive space that I have to be like doing nothing to convert very many files. Now i am asking for an up on the amount of books I could get per month as I lost over 1000 books in a crash, and my membership is up in July. pretty certain I will renew, but I hate having to waste new downloads to reget things I already had. I do like the ability to read them on the Web, and if the laptop is close, I just use the .xml file and read online. I am going out to buy a new computer today. Everyone says get windows 7 64-bit, but a lot of the transcription companies I am applying to will not accept Windows 64-bit. Let me know your opinions on Text /Aloud versus doing it with Kurzweil. Everytime I use Kurzweil, it dominates my whole computer no matter which one i use. You can email offlist at

Eden, you would have to convert Bookshare books into mp3 format using a program like Kurzweil or TextAloud before they will play on the NLS player since it contains no TTS engine. Yes, it is a burden and time-consuming to convert the books to mp3 format.

Do I have to put books into .mp3 to make them play on my regular Nls player? I am nnot srue if any of the files avilable already do that, and Kurzweil will put them in that file format of mp3, but it is cumbersome, and you can't do anything else with computer when using this. Anyone remember Bookshare support number Need to talk to Rob, he is usually helpful. Take care.

Hello everyone,

This may be old news to some but I tought I would share just te same. If anyone as to file taxes tis yer and doesn't want to use a paid tax preparation service or brave te lines at te local IRS office were tey will prepare a personal return for free,

www.taxact.com <http://www.taxact.com>

is completely accessible if you are doing it over the web. There is a cd version and I can't attest to its functionality with screen readers but I have used the web version for te past five or more tax years with minimal trouble. The only drawback is the darn audio captia. There is a version wit fillable forms (int int to our retired IRS employees) if you feel more comfortable with that. Just a fyi if anyone is interested.
