Unfortunately, I don't have a micraphone that works for my computer so I
can't participate. But I'm so glad that you're having him because I think
that it's important that he knows that a number of blind people who use
screen readers are finding the new website much more difficult to deal with.
And although my log in problem appears to be temporarily solved, I'm not
sure that it's permanently solved and I'm not even sure that it has to do
with my poor computer skills or screen readers. This talk is at 8 p.m.
eastern standard time? Where exactly, the tech talk room?

Bob,

Thanks. That's a different number from the other 650 number that I couldn't
connect with on Friday. I ended up using an 800 number that one of the tech
support people gave me in an email. Who is Rob Turner?

Well, I think it was Rosemarie who made a suggestion to me on my log in
issue. Whoever it was, I have to thank you because I went to the Bookshare
website and logged in with my email address and under it, there was a row of
stars where my password would be. So I was hopeful that this was the
password that I'd chosen when Vivian gave me the link to change my password
and I clicked on the sign in button. And guess what? I was told, one more
time, that my email address or password was incorrect. So I left, came back
to the website, wrote in my email address, and back spaced to remove the
stars. Then I wrote in the password I had chosen and it worked. I was in. I
suppose I'll have to do that each time. Now, in order to get to the New
York Times list, I did the following:
First I went to My Bookshare.
Next, I found the Browse link.
Next I found the New Books link.
Next I found the Special Selections link.
Finally, I found the New York Times best sellers link.
I have Jaws so I ddid all that with the links list.

Now there's something really cumbersome about that. But if I remember the
sequence, I'll know how to get there next time. At one point last week, I'd
set the combo box to show 100 titles and that setting has remained. Someone
else said it disappeared when you log out but mine stayed put. I see that
each title is a link. I assume that if I enter on the title, I'll see a more
complete description of the book, but then I'm not sure how to get back to
the list. I should have tried control W because that works on the BARD site.
But it didn't occur to me until just now. I wrote down a list of books about
which I'm curious, and I can search for the titles when I want them. But
someone else on this list who uses Jaws and wants to experiment with
entering on the title to get the complete annotation and then trying to use
control W to see if that takes you back to the New York Times list, could
report back before I wander over to the site again.
