I have version 3.0.10289 of IBM Lotus Symphony. I don't have Microsoft Office 2003 which came preinstalled on my crashed dead desktop in Windows XP 32-bit, the CD I do have that came with this free laptop is the Student edition of Microsoft Office 2010 and it wants me to register it however I can't read the 25-digit without sighted assistance because my scanner gave up on me two years ago...which is why I proofread now. I will give it a go...what you said.

Chela, what version of IBM Lotus Symphony are you running? I'm running 3.0.
When I start the program and press ctrl O to open a file, I get a dialog box
which has a Files of Type drop-down box at the bottom where I can specify
Microsoft Word 97-2003 doc files. I think this is built into Symphony but
I'm not positive if I had to select any file conversion options when I
installed it since it's been a while ago.

And if you still have Microsoft Office 2003, I would strongly recommend
installing that instead of Office 2010. I'm still running Office 2002 also
known as Office XP.

Chela, I won't call you cheap, cheesy or old-fashioned because you
want to stick with something you already know rather than re-learning
a whole new interface introduced with Microsoft Office 2007. I'm
finding that most software upgrades especially those from Microsoft
don't really add needed functionality but change the user interface so
previous users have to re-learn how to do the things they already knew
how to do. It is a huge waste of time and money.

You do know that Lotus Symphony can read Word doc files, don't you? I
have Lotus Symphony 3.0 on my system and was able to open your NPR
file just fine with it albeit a tad slowly. You may need to do some
reformatting depending on the complexity of the Word document being
opened and features it may contain not supported by Lotus Symphony but
most basic Word documents should open just fine.

Glad to be of assistance. Glad it works for you alll...now I actually
have to download MS Office 2010 on this windows 7-64-bit laptop from HP
the HPG72 in order for it to read the doc file...but I like using IBM
Lotus Symphany because the layout is just like Office 2003, call me
cheap and cheesy and old fashioned.

Greetings,
Since I use IBM Lotus Symphony and converted it from its native to
.doc, I hope it is legible. Please let me know if this works.
