Thanks Rob for this.

I am looking into all ways to access the books for the presentation.

So will create this hand out.

Thanks.

DAISY content to the VR Stream

Hi Shelley,
The Victor Reader Stream can play Bookshare DAISY content but it does
not have a built-in unpack utility. All the unpacking needs to be done
on the PC.

Here's how I get Bookshare content on to my Stream:

The first thing I do is to open the SD card as a removable drive on the
PC. Then I create a sub folder for the book in the $VRDTB folder. I
usually name it with the title but sometimes use the author's last name.
Next I unpack the book directly to the newly created sub folder. For
those who want to always unpack to the same location on the PC, it might
be less confusing to unpack first and then move the files to their SD
card with the usual cut and paste operation. During the unpack
procedure, it is not necessary to create an HTML file

Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Presentation about Bookshare

Hi you all, One of my colleagues at work, is unable to do a
presentation on
Friday and I was asked to step up and do it. It is on Bookshare and how
to
access the books for students using different types of technology. If
anyone has a VR Stream, a Braille+ or an Icon, could you tell me how to
unpack books and download books from those devices?

Can the Wave read Bookshare books?

I know how to talk about the Braille Sense, braillenotes, and the other
tools to access books, but not these devices nor do I have some to play
with, so hoping you all can help me out, smile.

The presentation is on Friday, at the Carroll Center for the Blind.
