That's a heck of a transition to make I think. Hopefully he'll be able to make it. I know that, speaking of inspirations, those who can successfully cope with the loss of their sight probably fit the bill quite well.

Yeah, the "You could do it if you had to" is a line I usually take. Then again, my uncle recently lost a good bit of his sight due to diabetes. It's really hard to watch him at family gatherings, because he clearly is not coping at all. And I really wish that he and my aunt would explore the resources available. I find myself frustrated that they don't, but I also have to remind myself that the loss of sight is a recent development and that my uncle is in his fifties, therefore an adult, and if he wants to make something of his life, he will, and if he doesn't, well, there's not a whole lot I'm going to be able to do.Shannon Who didn't mean to get TMI, really! Mostpeople protest, but the reality is, once life gives you that situation, youdon't really have a choice. And then, it just becomes a part of your routine, and you don't think it's all that spectacular. The only thing in my life that would probably be an exception to that rule is my dog, because everything he does for me amazes me, and it's like watching a little miracle. -----Original Message----- From: Grandma Cindy [mailto:popularplace@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2008 4:39 AM To: bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: Inspiration Wonderful mother!! smile--and nice of your employer to give you the retraining.
