Hello everyone,
Lena did it. She started the fire and then took off with her 12 year old
niece. In our next session of Hooked On Books, we will continue reading Like
Normal People, a debut novel by Karen E. Bender. Lena is mentally
challenged, her niece a troubled girl on the brink of teenage angst. Back
home, Lena has a mother who must be wringing her hands right now. What is
she thinking?
Karen Bender is a witty writer, and we are enjoying her. How do parents cope
with the needs and desires of adult children who are mentally disabled?
