My guess is that it's a misnomer. If other senses, like hearing, become sharper through use and concentration, e.g., Elizabeth "hearing" or sensing the presence of a wall, non-thinking people might call that second sight. Also, the fact that you can walk around places that are familiar to you and that you've learned to navigate might appear, again to a non-thinking person like the one who asked A.J. if she could help him to his car, to b second sight. grin

The whole "blind people have second sight" thing
has never really bothered
me. I mean it's nearly a universal cultural myth. I am
kind of curious where
it comes from though.
