The books should not have deleted even though you had the betteries removed. They may not be in the root folder of the card, however. Are you familiar with the BP commands for getting into and out of folders? In case not, hit the star and zero keys together until you hear the double beep. This will mean you're on the root folder of the card. Now, you can use the star and pound keys by themselves to go up and down the folder list. I don't know what folder your books would be in but if you find a folder you'd like to look in, enter it by hitting both the zero and pound keys together.
