The firmware gets updated every time I plug in the bookport to my PC, so,
yes the firmware has been updated.
When I say garbled, I mean it is unrecognizable sounds, kind of like the
sound when the dental hygenist cleans your teeth with that sonic device.
lots of screetches and squeals; garble is the best word I knew of to
describe it.
It may not have anything to do with RFBD; it just happened shortly after I
installed the software to allow my bookport to use RFBD files that this
happened; I probably shouldn't have mentioned that; looks like that fact has
only confused the other facts.

Have you also updated your firmware? I doubt this is in any way related to RFB&D. When you say, "it's garbled," do you mean staticky or something else?

They sound like garble now. I've tried deleting the files, and re loading them, and regardless of the type of MP3 file I transfer to the bookport, it doesn't play properly. I'm running the most recent software update; All other file types play just fine, even the memo files, but not MP3 type files. any ideas about what could be causing this?
