We have three digital cameras in our house and they all use the same cord as
the BookPort and the PacMate.

No, they're not the standard for cameras any more. The digital camera that I
bought my wife for Christmas has one of those _really_ tiny connectors on
the camera end--the kind that are on the cable for the old Otis device that
used to be given out by Audible to new subscribers before they switched to
the Muvo player. I don't know what that size is called, but it's perhaps
one-half or even one-third the size of the mini-B that's on the BP cable.

Yes; it's a USB with a mini-d plug. They're the standard, I believe, for 
cameras and other devices.
