Why would you reset the BP to factory defaults? The settings on the Book
Port have absolutely nothing to do with how or whether the computer (or any
software on it) sees it.

Try a different USB Port. If that doesn't work, reset the Book Port back to
factory defaults. If that doesn't work, contact APH because you may be
having other problems from the battery incident.
