I have flown with my BP several times, and I have also flown with my =
notetaker since 1999, and I have yet to notice a problem with lost data =
because of the X-ray machines or metal detectors.

Subject: [bookport] BP and x-ray machines

Hello.=20
Next week I'm going to have a long trip to Europe, so will want to take =
the BP on the plane. I was just curious if there was anything to do to =
protect it, specifically the card, from the x-ray machine.
I ask this because for many many years I traveled once or twice a month =
with my braille lite, and it wasn't until many years afterwards until I =
once read on the blindtech listserve that note takers shouldn't be put =
through the machine, and that a hand want was a lot safer for it, though =
I don't know why. I thought files were saved by some means of magnetism, =
and don't medal detectors work on similar principles? Either way, =
should I be weary of my card going through either the x-ray machine or =
the hand wand?
Tiff
