Yes you do. I tried to go the rout you think by just going to check for updates 
but it asks you explicitly to download the newer transfer tool.

P.S, this is off topic but I understood you once did an article on the KNFB 
reader for the in touch program. Is it possible to have some sort of link to 
that demonstration. I do have a unit myself and am interested in your findings. 
Feel free to write off list, best not to clutter this one.
