Glad to know you got a new one.
I use mine for Audible books, MP3 music and other audio. That's why I
prefer 4GB cards, but maybe I should try smaller ones.

No I'm still here too. In fact, I recently bought a new bookcourier
from a supplier here in the UK who still had a few in stock. I still have
not found anything that is quite as good for day to day text reading. I
also got my old one refaced, so now have two working devices.
I ave to sday that I tend towards using smaller flash cards as if and when
they fail I stand to lose less money and data. As I mostly use the
bookcourier for plain text, I am unlikely to want access to 4Gb!!

I rather thought that was the answer. Does this problem occur on other
portable players? I use 4GB Flash cards. Would it be better to use
smaller
capacity cards with less on them?

Wow, didn't know this list was still active. You and I may be the only
ones
left on the planet still using a Book courier. I use mine mainly for
Daisy
files and I rarely have problems.
Usually the best way to resolve the kinds of problems you are describing
is
to reformat the card and reload everything. I know that's a pain if you
have a lot of stuff on the card, but the files do get corrupted and
reformatting is sometimes the only cure.

Both my BookCouriers sometimes do strange things. I always make a number
of
folders on each card, and limit the number of files in a folder to no more
than ten. Sometimes I get an error message while going through the
library
saying that a file cannot be played.
Tonight I downloaded a new MP3 file into a completely empty folder. When
I
tried to play it, the Courier started it, and then went back to a file in
another folder. It doesn't even give me an error message.
