_The Turquoise Lament_
by John D. MacDonald
read by Robert Petkoff

Pidge's call was rather a surprise to Travis McGee, who'd last seen her
on her wedding day when she'd married Howie Brindal. Howie seemed such
a nice young guy, built like a linebacker and willing to do almost
anything for anyone. He wasn't brilliant, but he ought to do well by
Professor Tom Lewellen's daughter Pidge, or Linda if one used her
given name.

Linda wanted him to join her in Hawaii, and was certain that Howie was
trying to kill her. But the photos she'd taken of their stowaway
didn't show the girl she insisted she'd seen on the bow of her boat,
the Trepid; and Trav didn't see anything but concern and worry for
Pidge in Howie's behavior.

But some people are capable of successfully putting on an act, so which
was doing so in this case? And could he save the late professor's
daughter when others were intent on putting her either into a loony
bin--or a watery grave?

Mayer is not well but able to think clearly enough to help Trav make up
his mind as to what to do next as Trav finds himself between a group
intent on stealing Pidge's rightful inheritance and the deep, turquoise
sea.

Well, once again a fair maiden's life is in danger while Sir Travis
McGee mounts his swaybacked charger to set his lance against a windmill
or three. Nice because this time he doesn't have months of recovery
ahead of him, but sad due to psychological transference. Definitely
full of suspense and the nuggets of wisdom MacDonald always packs into
his books, and well read by Petkoff.
