They Disappeared By Rick Mofina. The book is on bookshare. Jeff and Sarah Griffin and their 9 year old son are vacationing in Manhattan. Cole's backpack has been accidentally switched with that of another passenger on the plane. A phone call from the stranger using the information in Cole's backpack and a quick meeting straightens things out. Then they are off to take pictures near Times Square to start their vacation in earnest. When more batteries are needed for the camera, Jeff steps into a nearby shop for them. He returns a few minutes later and finds that Sarah and Cole have disappeared. A man in a wheelchair tells him he saw them picked up. The police are called. The police aren't hopeful that the information from the man will lead anywhere as he's known to make things up. Feeling that the police aren't moving quickly enough, they seem to be wasting time investigating him, Jeff Griffin starts investigating on his own. There is plenty going on in this fast paced thriller. There are 150 heads of state in town for a UN meeting. It's soon apparent how the Griffin family became involved with international terrorists. There is lots of action and many threads to follow in this exciting tale. Good Reading. Rosemarie
