[blindza] Ultrasonic obstacle detection eyeglasses

The following product seems to have been developed in conjunction with the RNIB:

Seems like it's pretty much a sort of up to 3m obstacle detection set of eyeglasses that work using vibrational feedback , and was just thinking it would be nice if you could combine something like this along with a webcam built into/attached to it, to then use both the vOICe and this unit itsself at the same time...<smile>

Only thing is they seem to focus on it being used to detect chest/head height obstacles, and am just wondering about it's sort of aiming methodology - as in does it use ultrasonic radar on a limited target angle, which you aim by 'looking' at it, or is it literally just scanning something like a 90 degree angle to try cover something like the average body width up to 3m ahead, etc.
