Hi

Found a small useful utility called PrintKey that literally does on-screen OCR (optical character recognition) which means that if you get something like an invitation/account etc. that has no text as such you can sort of still 'read' it.

It's not perfect as such, and it also sort of uses a thing called Microsoft Document Imaging which I think actually comes with MS Office, so you might need to have that installed as well.

Haven't tested it too much yet, but it does sort of seem to work with some stuff so I thought I might as well pass it on so long.

Anyway, I found out about it on a website called Inthane Elf's Grab Bag:
http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com/

It's mostly related to programming stuff, but anyway, when you get to that page, do a search for 'PrintKey'.

Alternatively, you can just download the actual program/software from:
http://grabbag.alacorncomputer.com/downloads/Printkey.exe

Basically when you run the thing, it lands up in the system tray, and then when you have something on the screen and press the PrintScreen key, and then open that thing using (in Jaws) Insert + F11 etc. you will land on a 'Print' button which when you press 'space' on it will save the thing in a .mdi format which should also open automatically in that MS Document Imaging thing, and then you open the Tools menu, and if you choose to save it to MS Word (actually seems to save it to an off-line webpage - .htm), it will automatically do the OCR thing first.

Also, FWIW, it's also a free open-source piece of software.

Like I said I have tested it a little bit, but not much, but anyway...

Stay well
