Hettie, in the NVDA menu, go into preferences, speech dictionaries, and hit enter on global dictionary.

There, tab to add button, and hit space bar.

In the pattern field paste the following:

(\d)(?=\d)

in the replacement field, put the following, including the trailing space character:

\1

In the comment field, I have the following - just because:

speak numbers as digits

Then tab over to type grouping radio buttons, and make sure regular expression is selected, then tab over to ok button, and hit space bar to save the entry, and then tab over to the close button in the dictionary dialogue, and do the same, and it should now read all numbers out as single digits.

Hi Jacob and others
My apologies for not replying to some of your messages. I still have some
problems with my computer but hope to have it all working soon, no like
yesterday. Has the nvda setting in the dictionary changed to have nvda read
digits instead of readings numbers as words? Please tell me how to do it in the
latest nvda version..
