What I think you need to do is this.
In tools/options, in both checking mail and sending mail, tab to
secure sockets when sending. ... There are four radio
buttons. Choose the one that says 'alternate port, required' and
press the okay button.

I got an email from Verizon telling me I needed to make some
settings changes in my mail service. I couldn't figure it all out
so I called them and the tech was able to do all the changes except
for the outgoing port number which is supposed to be 465. Is
anybody else using verizon and were you able to make that
change? If I can't get that changed I will have to use some other
mail service and I sure don't want that. I've had Eudora for years
and really like it and don't want to change.
Please help!!!
