Something looked up examples of over weekend was savoury preparations of oats,
etc.

This is maybe/partly since, I will often enough use dried oats as a form of
thickener for dishes like curry, adding it in at the end, and letting it simmer
in juice/gravy for roundabout 15 minutes, since it then thickens everything,
along with adding a bit of texture, etc.

Anyway, this morning, prepared oats in a manner similar to how would normally
do it for quick/simple breakfast - two thirds of a cup of dried oats, along
with a cup and a half of water, pinch of salt, and some butter, cooking it in
bowl, in microwave for a few 5 minute sessions, at slightly less than full
power, stirring it in between, until the oats absorbs all the water, and
thickens/softens up.

Anyway, would normally just maybe add in a bit of dried cinnamon, and then when
done, a dollop of butter, sugar, and some milk, but, this morning, kept the
dried cinnamon powder in there, but also added in a bit more salt, some
paprika, a touch of brown sugar for a possible bit of a caramelisation effect,
and added in some dried peri-peri powder, and then cooked it as normal.

When was done, just added in a bit of worcestershire sauce, and a bit of mint
jelly, and while think the one thing that might really have finished it off
perfectly would have been something like sour cream, or some chutney, it really
wasn't bad, and think will play around with this concept a bit more at some
stage, maybe adding in things like fried onions, tomato, and maybe a touch of
bacon, or something, but anyway.

Opinions/thoughts?

Stay well
