Diego, the PC is actually my laptop which is moved around the house
liberally. The AppleTV is connected to the stereo. I don't have the video
connected as it is only a 2 channel audio system and I wouldn't have any use
for the video anyway.

Frank,

Is there a special reason why you want to stream into the Apple TV? I mean,
having a PC connected to the sound system would yield superior sound than
filtering anything, including video content, via the Apple TV. Since I don't
have an Apple TV, I am quite curious about your adventure here.

Diego

Diego, all the decoding will be done PC side. I merely need something more
reliable than Airfoil to do the streaming via the Airplay protocol to the
AppleTV.
Thanks
Frank

You may be expecting to run into some compatibility problems with AppleTV.
The question is, are you going to decode at the PC level or are you going to
have the AppleTV decode the material you watch or listen to? I do not have
AppleTV. However, I have read that it is very limited in the formats that it
can play. For example, I do not believe that AppleTV can play MKV or FL a
C files.
