Hi David,
I love my Apple TV 4. However, the Roku may be experiencing the same difficulty
with accessibility that Apple is experiencing. While TVOS has made it possible
for well over 1000 apps, or channels, to be available. And more being added
daily. Accessibility is only 100% available for the OS. Navigating the Apple TV
4 is wonderful. I love the Siri enabled remote with its tiny little touch
screen. I love playing music and movies not only through Netflix and networks
such as CW, not to mention Apple Music, but also right through my PC which is
connected via my Apple I D.
However, Apple TV 4, and possibly Roku, cannot guarantee accessibility of
individual apps inside the OS. I can't tell you how many times I have heard
that a certain app has had an update. Turned on my talking hockey puck, and
heard something like label, label, label, label, instead of my beloved content
I was in the mood to hear. And since the update came from the individual app
and not from Apple I might need to wait a very long time to get my precious
content back because that company may not have the same commitment to
accessibility that Apple has. One app or channel if you prefer, is ESPN. That
channel has not been half as accessible on the fourth generation as the third.
So far my attempts at establishing a dialog with them has not been fruitful.
For you, David, and other Roku enthusiasts. I wish you the best of luck. But
keep this in mind. That even if the Roku comes out with a talking guide. Many
of your apps may still not perform the way you hope. At this point even Apple's
on Podcast app is not working well with voiceover.

Subject: [blind-philly-comp] Voice-enabled Features Coming to Roku??
Yesterday I read a tweet indicating that a feature called Audio Guide was
coming to Roku, which I assumed referred to speech output for menu navigation.
I found the following help article, which is not very helpful as it's a list of
questions about the feature with no answers.
