David, many of your topics sound good (the ones I might not weigh in
on are just because I don't know enough about them to respond either
way).

Thanks for your work in convening these phone meetings. I really
enjoyed Friday's, even though I could only participate for about
thirty minutes.

Hi.
First, since we had our phone meeting last Friday we will not be holding a
phone meeting this coming Friday, since it occurs the day after
Thanksgiving.
Also, there will be no phone meeting in December. Our next scheduled meeting
will be on January 29 at 8:00 PM. I expect that there will be lots of
technology news from now until that time. I expect that iOS 9.2 will be out
sometime in December and who knows what else might get announced during the
next two months. Therefore, I'm not planning a particular theme as I expect
there will be a lot to talk about by the end of January.
I do have some topic ideas for future phone meetings and would like to
present them for you8r consideration and comments. Please feel free to post
your thoughts about the following topics to this list, along with ideas of
your own for future topics.

Books. We did this several years ago but is it worth revisiting the topic of
where we can obtain books in electronic formats?
Digital talking book players: Plextalk Pocket, Victor Stream, etc.
Using Android devices. This is something I'd rather get a guest speaker for
as my experience with Android is just too limited right now.
Using computers and phones for radio and TV content.
Tips for keeping your computer safe and secure.
Using the new smart navigation mode on the Web using JAWS 17.
Using social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.
sources for obtaining news online.
A basic intro to the iPhone for new or potential users.

These are just ideas off the top of my head that I think would likely appeal
to a general audience. Also, if any of you have ideas for possible guest
speakers on relevant topics, please submit ideas to me as I'd like to have
more such presentations. We've had a few over the years and I think they
provided great presentations. As an example, we had two representatives from
Benetech answering questions from callers about the Bookshare service. I've
thought for some time about trying to get one or two folks from Freedom
Scientific to answer questions about JAWS. I've also wanted to get someone
from NLS to talk about BARD/would you find that helpful?
Finally, I want to wish all of you a joyous and happy Thanksgiving. For
those of you who are ASB consumers, the agency will be closed this coming
Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Take care.
