Yes I imagine so there's something to be said for talking out of the box but when the rest of the experience lags behind and when so many dongles must come into the equation one does wonder as it starts to tarnish the luster not just for blind but sighted alike.

I agree, Robin. There's a part of me that would absolutely love to own a
Mac as there's so much about it that I find attractive. However, the
fact is that, for me, I just don't find it as efficient as navigating in
the Windows universe. Some would argue that my long association with
Windows has created a built-in bias that would be very hard to go
against and there may be some truth in that. I just feel that some
aspects of navigating within Windows is just so much easier than with
the Mac. Jonathan is absolutely right when he talks about the issues
with the one letter quick nav keys being such a pain to use with the
Mac. As fun as the Mac is Windows is just so much nicer.

Jonathan Mosen is most certainly an expert when it comes to blindness
assistive technology. For several years, he has been a user of the Mac
as well as Windows. His latest blog post discusses why he personally
feels it's time for him to stop using the Mac. I think he raises some
valid points. I won't paste the contents of his post but, if you'd like
to read it, the link is
