There is not now, nor has there ever been an organization of such high
moral standing that it did not warrant watching.
Remember the Price of Freedom? Eternal vigilance.
I have, in my long years of participation in political affairs as well
as of my involvement in the Organized Blind Movement, watched as
deeply committed people become so focused on winning the day, that
they began to bend the rules, believing that the end justifies the
means. And, for the record, I've been in that number myself. But the
fact is, bend the rules and you risk changing the end results.
When I joined the Washington State Association of the Blind, by that
time WSAB was a member of the National Federation of the Blind, I was
deeply moved by the speeches of Doctor Jacobus tenBroek, in "The Man
and the Movement". "The Blind leading the Blind". "The blind
speaking for the blind". We knew who we were, and we'd never go back.
We set out to cast of the yokes the sighted do gooders, who profited
by becoming our care givers. And what happened? When Kenneth
Jernigan moved into a power position, all direction and all wisdom
came from the top down. Today, the NFB appears more like a national
agency for the blind rather than a grass roots organization.
From where I sit, handing Freedom and Independence down from the top
is not the same as that which is fought for and earned by individuals.
Teaching blind people to stand and fight for their own independence is
the only way to freedom.
And that is true in our national politics. If we are not committed to
watch over, and to speak out when our leaders begin to stray, then we
have only ourselves to blame when we wake up some morning enslaved to
our Corporate Masters.

An awful lot has been said about the chaos at the Nevada convention last
week.
"Debbie Wasserman-Schultz wants you to believe that there was incredible
violence and that was all that there was at Nevada, with Bernie Bros
threatening to tear down the whole house and set it on fire," said the

Turks host John Iadarola.
There was more to it than that, he claimed. "They don't actually show that
the rules were clearly manipulated. There's video evidence which we've
shown. They won't admit that and all the news reports about it won't admit
that either," Iadarola added.
TYT's political reporter Jordan Chariton located a Hillary Clinton delegate
who was also shocked and dismayed by last-minute rule changes and shady
goings-on.
"We had done absolutely everything-done it on time, had the state office
confirm it and mysteriously in an email that went out Wednesday our names
weren't there," said Clinton delegate Pat Barrett. "When I went to try to
correct it, I was given lots of various information-really no one seemed to
know what was going on."
"Eventually, I ended up in a long line outside the credentials committee
room. Everyone got to go in, it was very interesting, but I stood and
waited
for four hours. They put [my name] back on [the list] and then an hour
later
when we were voting in the district rooms, my husband's name was
mysteriously taken off again," Barrett said.
But why did the names disappear in the first place?
"We were on the Hillary side and we were told that the leaders in each
[Bernie and Hillary] team had the right to scrub anybody they wanted to. We
went ballistic and shortly thereafter one of the people on the Hillary team
got a text from the woman was setting up the Hillary team in Nevada. And
she
said, 'No it wasn't us. That came from the state level.' In other words,
that came from the chairperson, whose name is Roberta Lange," said Barrett.
