Carl, even though I support their platform, it was a little disappointing to
read through that message and not being sure what organization it was from
until I read the web link.

<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="content" -->Dear Carl,
By the time you read this, we may have even passed our bonus 2,000 member goal
to finish out our spring member drive.
Why? Because:
* *Small numbers really can move power.* We're about 45 members short of our
goal. And if you talk to our Media Coordinator, she'll tell you that even 10 or
15 letters to the editor can sway the way an opinion piece gets written. Our
Legislative team knows that just a handful of calls from constituents can
affect how a rep votes. And ask any of our chapter leaders - a few extra hands
to help set up for an event can make all the difference.
* *Membership = political independence.* This drive was never about the
money. But the fact remains: when you pay membership dues of just $18, it means
real ownership over JVP. It means we can say what needs to be said, and act
when crises strike, knowing the resources will be there.
* *People are watching us.* We talk a lot about our opponents - especially
within major Jewish institutions - and the spotlight they have put JVP under.
But what I care more about is what our friends and allies see. And especially
with Israel's government moving ever further to the right, I want to send as
strong a message as possible that we are paying attention, that we care, and
that we are committed to making change possible.
I know we can get to the 2,000 Member threshold by tonight. I bet we can even
get to 2,100 - maybe even higher. And I know for certain that it's going to
take even more of us joining in to reach our actual
goal: freedom, justice, and dignity for all.
Yours,
Rabbi Alissa
