I am not sure, but the publisher submitted books may not have to go through that converter.

Right now I am reading Angels At the Table, by Debbie Macomber, a publisher quality book, and even on my Braille display the blank lines are retained, with nothing at alll on them. I wonder how the publisher got that done. It is a new book, so I am assuming it was an ebook submitted by the publisher, but it is the first book I have noticed where the blank lines between scenes are retained without anything on the line such as asterisks.Sue S. -----Original Message----- From: Gary Petraccaro Sent: Friday, November 23, 2012 4:42 AM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: was Navigation what do members prefer? Some of the blank lines are immaterial. Blank lines between verses of poems are not. You *must* put chapters in larger headings font in orderfor the DAISY converter to know that this is a heading, a DAISY element!Madeleine's mention of putting chapter titles into 14 point font is reallyconfusing. they must be in 16 point or they will not be recognized as a DAISY element. I think this whole issue of the stars is getting everyone all out ofkilter! It all started when we were talking about chapter titles that hadjust single numbers instead of having "chapter" with them. Then, it's morphed into this whole crazy malarkiface about blank lines. The blank lines are immaterial! You don't necessarily need them between chapter titles and the accompanying text, but what you do need, what you have to have, in fact, is the chapter titles in larger font! This is aprerequisite for making a book into DAISY format. Please, let's not haveany confusion about chapter heading fonts! Believe me folks, I've made DAISY books in the past, and these fontchanges *must* be made in order for the DAISY converter to select the textthat indicates a new or different DAISY element! Ann P. Original message:In posting a response to Madeleine's explanation, along with my question about do I understand then that if the chapter title is 16 point Bold and the text is 12 point regular, asterisks aren't necessary, I forgot to ask what do members prefer? Given that the space is deleted and the texts are squished together--asterisks or nothing between chapter title and beginning of body. (Since in this book I've begun with the asterisks, I 'll c ontinue, but I want to know for he future. smile CIndy To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxput the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
