Subject: [bksvol-discuss] summer & creative writing club arriving the same
day!

All ye humans, great & small,
You're invited--1 & all!

Summer is but 8 days away in making its yearly debut. Making its
semi-debut also on that same date is the Friends of Bookshare
Explorations in Creative writing group. We will be meeting at 9:00
a.m. pacific, 12 pm eastern, in the friends of bookshare classroom.

For the 1st 4 lessons, we will be studying the topic of "writing what
you know". The material can be found at:
http://openlearn.open.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=2799

The introduction to the course is as follows:
This unit includes reading and writing activities that are geared to
developing the use of memory, observation and the senses. The aim is
to develop your perceptual abilities, honing your capacity to see
detail in the world. You will be encouraged to start seeing the
familiar in a new way and to make good use of your own personal
history.

We strongly encourage all those who wish to participate to read the
first lesson of this course prior to the group meeting & be prepared
to discuss it.

The curriculum after that is subject to decision by the group.
Suggestions that have been given thus far have been:

http://www.thecraftywriter.com/2007/09/24/introduction-to-creative-writing-c
ourse-2/

Again, those who wish to participate are asked to look over these
materials prior to that time so that the group can make choices as to
how to proceed. Any suggestions as to other materials for the group's
consideration would be greatly appreciated as well.

So, to summarize:
Who? The Friends of Bookshare Explorations in Creative Writing Club
what: a group designed to encourage its members by means of
instruction & *constructive* critique to become better writers
Where: Friends of Bookshare Classroom
When: 9:00 a.m., Pacific, 12 pm Eastern, June 21, 2008
Why: Because we can!
How: Web Conferencing Plugin, & Pat Price's generosity.

Please note: this group will meet the 1st, 3rd, & 4th Saturday of each
month, deferring to the Fantasy Book Club which meets on the 2nd
Saturday at the same time. Please also note that this group is
facilitated, not led, which means that all members' participation is
necessary in order for the group to be successful.

If you have such, bring writing samples which demonstrate how you've
used your personal experiences in your writing. Keep these to about
1000 words, please.

& remember--Change the world--1 deed at a time.
