Thanks Julie,

I appreciate all your comments and I hope it will inspire others as well as myself to try to submit more usable material. It's too badd there isn't a list of directions and suggestions for beginners who are starting to submit books. I just sort of learned by belonging to this list and just using my common sense.
I'll keep trying to improve the submissions so the validator won't have so much work.

Hi, Bud. The important thing is that as a submitter, you're willing to learn
and improve what you do. I think it's true of at least almost all of us that
our earlier submissions might not have been as good as what they are now.
That could be a software thing, but I think more likely, it's that, as we
scan books and get more involved with Bookshare, we raise our standards and
just submitting the bare minimum is no longer good enough for most of us. As
long as you're open to suggestions and learning how to improve what you do,
you'll never be perfect, but you're learning and improving and that's the
important thing. <smile> Take care.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] spell checking

Hi Guys,

I've been submitting books for about thrree years now. I was never
given any rules or guide lines when I first started so just thought
that scanning and submitting was all there was to it. Recently I
have started using the rank speller in Kurzweil and find a lot of
corrections to make. Maybe the word should go out to submitters that
spellchecking is part of the submitting. It takes a long time to do
a book of any size with spellchecking but I'm sure it would be
appreciated by the validators.
