You're right, most hardbacks can be scanned using two-page mode with no trouble. After some experimentation, I got this one to fit. ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary Petraccaro To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, September 09, 2009 4:07 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: seeking scanner for hardcover books I'm afraid I'm not understanding what you want. I haven't found many books that won't fit on a scanner unless you want two-page mode. 8 by 11.5 is pretty much what you're going to get even with a book-edge scanner. So, you won't be using two-page mode even with that. There used to be legal-sized scanners 8 by 14, but they were costlier. There are what's called full-sized scanners 11 by 17 if memory serves, but they're not close to cheap. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marcus Williams To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, September 06, 2009 11:53 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] seeking scanner for hardcover books I've decided to start scanning again, but have run into an interesting problem. The few books I scanned in the past were mass market paperbacks. Well, there was one hardcover. Anyway, I tried to scan another hardcover today, but the book wouldn't fit on my scanner! So, I need some suggestions for a not too pricey scanner that can handle hardcovers of various sizes. Marcus
