Reality is Cindy that a lot of folks do have k1000 and have scanners good
enough to use the software well (read Epson). The optimizing features mean
you can scan a poor quality book and have the scanning settings set for
"degraded". I am mentioning this since a lot of what you and I do is
validate and so our use of scanners and scanning software is in that
context rather than in the context of scanning whole books.
