Well that makes perfect sense to me. If you're not supposed to know the
identity of a character at first, you want your picture description to
heighten the suspense of what you're reading, wouldn't you? I think if you
say: "picture caption: Man wearing a yellow raincoat with a hidden object in
his hand. End of caption", will keep you guessing until the person is
identified with a name. Then you could say: "Picture caption: Mr. Brown
leaving a shop. He appears to be in a hurry. End of caption." (Captions are
made up examples to illustrate what I mean.) Regards, Kim Friedman.

Hi Booksharian Friends,

In a workshop Bookshare held on picture description, we were advised to
identify characters only after they are identified in the book.Once they are
introduced, using their names in descriptions is very helpful.  If I haven't
explained enough, I will be glad to elaborate.
