I'm really not sure what you mean. Like I said, I have my books divided into folders, and I'm merely wondering if the VR stream will inecognize those folders if they are inside a directory (like the DTB directory.)

Stream--downloading ...
Hi, if you make folders on your SD card and paste your books in
your folder,
when you read what's on your bookshelf, you will hear the book
titles in
alphabetical order. So if you have a romance folder, you will
hear all the
book titles in that folder in alphabetical order, then you will
hear all
your titles in alphabetical order in your next folder, and so on.
Of course
if you haven't compartmentalized everything like me, the same
thing applies.
I just like all the books of a genre type or style in its own
particular
folder. I hope this explanation hasn't confused you and that I
expressed
myself clearly enough. Do write and tell me if this is of any
help. Regards
and happy reading, Kim.

A question. I orgazize my Bookshare books on a Ghn in
sub-folders on my SD
card. I have quite a lot of books so this really help. Can you
divide up
books, say, alphabetically by folder in the Vr stream also, or
will that
screw things up?

The problem with placing Bookshare books in the text folder isthat theylose their navigability. I ordinarily place them there myselfjust as an easyway to seperate them from NLS and RFB&D books. I usually read abook fromstart to finish anyway, so I did not consider the loss ofnavigability much ofa loss. However, in the Bookshare book I am currently on therewassomething I wanted to go back to check and I just decided to notbother because itwould have been a bit too much trouble. If I had placed it inthe DTB folderit would have been hardly any trouble at all.

Hi, Lynn, I want to tell you what I do with SD cards on theStream. Eventhough the Stream may not recognize them, you can if you wishcreatesub-folders on your VRDTB main folder. I say this because of my particularmindset. Imade three main headings: fiction from NLS, non-fiction from NLSandmagazines from NLS. Within the non-fiction and fiction folders, I havegenre folders,e.g. cookbooks, psychology, romance, mystery, etc. Are youdownloadingBookshare files in Daisy format or as brf files? If you are downloadingyour stufffrom Bookshare files in brf, you can place them in your textfiles folder. Idon't see why you can't specify a folder as books from Bookshare. Themaindifference will be in what format you download Bookshare files. On the BookSense, you would place Daisy files from RFBandD, Bookshare, and NLS onone foldercalled Daisy Books. I don't know what the stream does in thisinstance. Also, you can label your SD cards. If you write a label in the editfield on yourcard, the Stream will read the label of your cards. That isanotherfunction the Humanware Companion will do for you. I hope this helps youin some way..Regards, Kim.

Hi Kim,
Thanks for all the information.
I have many ... a hundred or so ... Bookshare books on myStream. I justdidn't know if I should create a separate folder for NLS DTBbooks.
I Went to the BARD site and downloaded two books, unzipped them, copiedthem to my SD card and have read a little in my first NLS book.It soundsgreat.
My preferred media is Bookshare, but not everything is availablehere, sohave to read NLS books as a second option. It's sure nice not tohave to movea bulky cassette recorder around though. *smile*
Blessings.

Hi, Lynn, I am a fellow Stream user. First of all, when you putyour SDcard into your Stream, if you look at your menu options (pressthe 7 key), oneof the choices you have is "format SD card". When I got my Stream,I was toldto connect it to my computer via the USB plug that came with it.I also hadto charge it via the other cord that I put in the surgeprotector. If youput your SD card in your Stream, it will format your card for youwithfolders designated VR audible, VR DTB, etc. I also should tell you theonly thingyou'll hear when the Stream is on is "Stream connected" Youcan't listen toyour books if the USB plug is connected to your computer.(lesson 1-1/2). Idon't know if you plan to use the Humanware Companion or not. Iuse it totransfer books from NLS from my Documents folder on the desktop to myStream.Somefolks use it and I think if you don't want to do this, You canunzip yourdownloaded files and do a cut-and-paste job and the file will be in theproper folder..I suppose you can leave the file zipped and the Stream will openthe filefor you. If you wish me to go into excruciating details filled withanecdotes,I'd be happy to oblige you. Remember, I'm a non-technogeek-typeperson so Ican translate stuff into my own words and hopefully you will beinformed orat least have a good laugh. Regards, Kim.
