Thank you I am very, very excited, and nervous and scared that the book will be
turned down, but it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to give back to bookshare
after using them all these years!! Thanks for the tips.

Hi Peggy,

Congratulations! That's exciting!

Check your book to be sure that all page numbers are in the book and protected
with a blank line before and after the page number. I always move page numbers
to the top, but that's not necessary (supposedly). In going through the book
to do the page numbers, though, I strip headers and check the pages to be sure
I'm not missing words or parts of words at the beginning of the pages, and if I
find hyphenated words, I join them. This isn't all required--it's just my
process. I also do a spellcheck, trying to make sure I don't find places where
the scanner has provided trash characters.

Then I submit the book for a proofreader.

Good luck, and congratulations again on your first scans!

Sandi

  Subject: [bksvol-discuss] first scan,

I have scanned my first two books and am ready to submit them ... Have been
through the guidelines on bookshare but ... what should I check for first
before submitting?? Just want this to be as easy for the proofreaders as
possible!
