Thank you I am very, very excited, and nervous and scared that the book will be turned down, but it’s a wonderful feeling to be able to give back to bookshare after using them all these years!! Thanks for the tips. From: Sandi Ryan Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2013 11:23 AM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: first scan, Hi Peggy, Congratulations! That's exciting! Check your book to be sure that all page numbers are in the book and protected with a blank line before and after the page number. I always move page numbers to the top, but that's not necessary (supposedly). In going through the book to do the page numbers, though, I strip headers and check the pages to be sure I'm not missing words or parts of words at the beginning of the pages, and if I find hyphenated words, I join them. This isn't all required--it's just my process. I also do a spellcheck, trying to make sure I don't find places where the scanner has provided trash characters. Then I submit the book for a proofreader. Good luck, and congratulations again on your first scans! Have been through the guidelines on bookshare but ... what should I check for first before submitting?? Just want this to be as easy for the proofreaders as possible!
