Hi Ann,

Is it just Systems Access that doesn't show the browse button? I have JFW
and Windows XP and I always see the browse button with my Braille display.

Hi all,

I agree that we need to capture the info. However, I think we need to
alert the WAI people or somebody that this issue of browse buttons is a
serious one and they need to look at it. With the current exposure
being given to John Slaton's death, I think it a good time to lobby the
Web Consortium about making a statement about this particular control
on web sites and the necessity of designing a control that would be
accessible.

<sigh> It is a real shame that places like Freedom Scientific are
reluctant to release info to rival companies so that their screen
readers will also recognize this control and handle it properly. I
haven't tried this in Firefox. Has anyone tried this control in
Firefox? How does it respond?

Apparently, this is not just a Bookshare issue. This is an issue being
faced by the blind all across the board. Therefore, we should turn our
efforts toward getting the industry to pay attention to our needs.
Work-arounds are fine in the short-term, but they do not and will not
satisfy me as a user of the Web. This control has got to be looked at
by competent programmers and the reasons why it is not visible to WE
and to System Access users must be addressed! Jaws is not the only
program on the block, and if I discover that this control works
properly in Firefox, I'm going to tell people to use that to do your
uploading.
