Sometimes, Es come across as 6s, so it might be élan.  Maybe somebody can 
look it up for you, though, since that is strictly a guess.

   I'm stumped again over this scanno in "Servant: The Acceptance" by L. L.
Foster:

And although Oren spoke with great 61an, he kept a wary eye on the woman for
the remainder of the drive.
