Sorry it's taken a while to answer this. I didn't see any other responses, so here's my idea of what you are seeing.
By the way, I am not the submitter of this Weight Watchers book.I have also scanned cookbooks and frequently fractions such as 1/2, 1/4, etc. get interpreted as V, the 1/ being converted to the letter v. There is no way to tell what the original fraction is without a printed book. The original fractions are frequently in a much smaller font.
