Dear Laura,

I'm a book impulse buyer, too and get many books, CDs and even DVDs from Amazon and buy almost exclusively from the marketplace sellers. I'm not encouraging you to do anything you don't feel confident about, but will share my experience with you.

In 3 years of steadily buying from Amazon's independent sellers, I've only gotten one inexpensive DVD that wasn't in great condition. The black remainder marks are lines drawn across the outside of the page edges. They don't show when you open the book and won't interfere with your scanning. It's hard to explain, but those black marks only show when the book is closed. Since I'm usually buying books which I'll donate after using them to scan or validate, I like buying from the other sellers because their low prices make it affordable for me to get 2 or 3 times as many books as I'd get paying Amazon's prices.

Best of luck with whatever you do or buy next.

Always with love,

Lissi

Hi Scott,

I was able to cancel Threshold. Thanks for letting me know you had it.

I've decided not to grab Low Red Moon at this time. The two inexpensive
ones both say things like: May have remainder mark, or may have black mark
at bottom of pages. Neither sounds good for scanning. If you do get this
title, let me know, as I'll be keeping an eye out for it.

My only request is that you put Hold for Lora in the title for Threshold,
and scan it soon. I'm intrigued by that book.

As for me, I'm going to add some Nancy Collins to the order instead. I've
always thought Sunglasses After Dark should be in the collection, and all
its sequels.

Hey Laura,

No worries about the mix up. As is often said, these things happen.

You're right ... if you completed the Amazon order today, you would almost
certainly be able to nix the Kiernan book. If you do in fact take that step, I vote for Low Red Moon. According to Amazon, it is only available used from
Amazon's third party sellers, so you never know what you'll get when you
order that way, but my experience, having been a frequent Amazon patron, is
that the third party folks are mostly quality sellers.

If you have any other horror-related requests, feel free to throw them out
to the list. I scan almost exclusively in that genre, and there are other
fans of the creepy books on list as well.

Scott

Sorry, Scott. Guess I missed the question about Kiernan back in February.
I did check Bookshare and saw Murder of Angels there, as well as Silk, so
I
didn't even consider those.

My sincere apologies, and I will query next time. I was impulse shopping,

I
suppose, and since I hadn't seen anything on the list recently about her,
I
thought I was good.

I doubt the order has shipped. I could remove that one and choose
another.
Have any preferences?

Hey Laura,

Wish you would have given some warning time before ordering those as I've
already got the Kiernan novel in my possession and will be scanning it
within the next couple days.

Also, I'm not certain if you were on either bookshare list back in early
February, but I specifically asked whether anyone planned on submitting
any
of Kiernan's works at that time. I didn't see any responses, so I went
ahead
and ordered Murder of Angels, and Threshold. Angels is already part of the
collection.

Maybe in the future you could query the lists before completing the online
order, thus avoiding the duplication.

Scott

Hi,

I just ordered four books from Amazon.com today. They'll be at Bookshare
by
May 5, according to Amazon. I just wanted to let folks know, so that we
didn't duplicate effort. The Russ Kick book looks good; apparently he's
done several disinformation books. I started with the most intriguing,
but
other titles by him look good.

"Twilight"
Stephenie Meyer; Paperback; $8.99
