Hi, Madeline,Could you please repost this excel attachment in xls instead of xlsx format? There are many volunteers who have older versions of Excel (and Word) that can't open xlsx or docx documents. Thanks!!

Hi everyone, I know that having a regularly updated list of the publishers we work with and their many imprints is something that volunteers have been asking for. I am in the process of creating this list, but, unsurprisingly, it's taking some time. To tide you over, I've come up with a list of publishers we DO NOT currently work with, and won't be working with in the near future: Pearson and its many imprints. As always, it is possible that we could suddenly start to work with Pearson. I have been told that this is highly, highly unlikely--as unlikely as me winning the lottery (a wonderful dream, but something that realistically won't happen)! The last thing I want is for volunteers to feel that their hard work is not appreciated or respected, so I think having a current list of "publishers to avoid" will hopefully solve problems of volunteer submissions being replaced (as opposed to a list of "safe" publishers that we don't currently work with but might start working with at some point). Of course, as people have mentioned before, even if your submission is replaced by a publisher's at some point, you still made available something that members would not otherwise be able to access, which is a wonderful thing. Please find Pearson and imprints attached as an excel spreadsheet. As of right now, you can definitely proof and scan books by publishers on the Pearson and Imprints list (of course, make sure to check that we don't already have the book in the Bookshare collection first!). We won't be working with them anytime soon. I tried to make it as comprehensive as I could. If you find any problems or other publishers that I've forgotten to include, please email me rather than post on the Freelists, as I'm more likely to see the email. I do follow the Freelists, but with the volume of discussion, it's possible that I might miss things and I don't want to! Let me know if you need a different format of the list and I'll get one to you. I hope this helps as a safe way and easy guide to publishers you can definitely use at the moment, and I'll be getting the master (and alphabetized!) list of all publishers and imprints out to you as soon as I finish it. Happy proofing and scanning! Best, Madeleine Linares Volunteer Coordinator Bookshare, a Benetech Initiative 650-644-3459 madeleinel@xxxxxxxxxxxx Join us in celebrating our 10th Anniversary!
