Hello,

Try www.readingmadeeasy.com. The Scan and Read Pro package is relatively
inexpensive and will give you the type of simple control you need. However,
it will not give you the same type of flexibility as K1K does. For the
amount you would spend on a program such as the Scan and Read Pro, you can
purchase the K1K update when it comes out later this year.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] OT: options for OCR?

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the off topic. Please feel free to reply directly to me.

I'm looking for an alternative OCR option to Kurzweil. I have a copy of K1K,
but for long-winded reasons I need to find a simple, bare-bones program that
will turn a scanned image into text with as few frills as possible. Also, it
needs to work well with Jaws. Oh, and the word of the day is inexpensive, of
course. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Shayla
