Hello Folks,

Another good turnout at our latest meeting. Most of us enjoyed our book, The
Kraken Project by Douglas Preston. For our next book, we remember Leonard Nimoy
as we read Spock’s World by Diane Duane.

The next meeting of the Science Fiction club will be on Thursday, April 9, 2015.

Place: Book Nook at:

http://conference321.com/masteradmin/room.asp?id=rs7867a2369e0e

Time: 9 PM Eastern, 8 PM Central, 7 PM Mountain, 6 PM Pacific, and 01:00 UTC.

Our book, Spock’s World, is available both as a digital download from BARD, and
in a Publisher Quality version from Bookshare.

Here is the NLS annotation:

The ruling council of the planet Vulcan calls an emergency meeting to try to
preserve the planet. Spock, torn between his duty to Starfleet and his
obligation to Vulcan, must find a way to reconcile his inner conflict and
resolve the crisis that his planet faces.

And this is Bookshare’s Long Synopsis for Spock’s World:

It is the twenty-third century. On the planet Vulcan, a crisis of unprecedented
proportion has caused the convocation of the planet's ruling council -- and
summoned the U.S.S. Enterprise from halfway across the galaxy, to bring
Vulcan's most famous son home in its hour of need. As Commander Spock, his
father Sarek, and Captain James T. Kirk struggle to preserve Vulcan's future,
the planet's innermost secrets are laid before us, from its beginnings millions
of years ago to its savage prehistory, from merciless tribal warfare to
medieval court intrigue, from the exploration of space to the development of
o'thia -- the ruling ethic of logic. And Spock -- torn between his duty to
Starfleet and the unbreakable ties that bind him to Vulcan -- must find a way
to reconcile both his own inner conflict and the external dilemma his planet
faces... lest the Federation itself be ripped asunder.

Come join us next month as we discuss this book, and share memories of Star
Trek and Leonard Nimoy as Spock.

Evan
