Hi, Max. Ark files are files created by Openbook. Openbook is a scanning package, and ark files can't be opened without having Openbook. When you are reading the step 1 page, you will see the format of the book listed below the title and author. Ark is for Openbook, kes is for Kurzweil, and wyn format is for a program that people with learning disabilities use for scanning and reading. Rtf and doc formats can be opened in Word, of course. Unless you have Openbook, you will need to release the book you have downloaded. I hope this helps.
