Just checking, you did do the simple things like make the whole document 12 point, single spaced, right.

Sometimes the ocr programs put in a bunch of styles and other formatting to try and make the page "look" like the print version. This sometimes adds lots of blank space. Since these aren't blank lines in the sense of line or paragraph characters that can be deleted, but rather instructions to MS Word to put the words in various positions, they can be tough to get rid of. The simplest way is to open a copy of the book in wordpad. add and delete a single character at the beginning of the document, then save the file. Always do this with a copy because some versions of wordpad not only remove styles, they remove all page breaks.

I've had textbooks that were large size to begin with and where parts of pages were small print so when expanded to 12 point they were much longer than a normal 8.5 by 11 inch piece of paper. But, I've never seen anything that would fill a 22 by 22 inch page. Something more must be going on here except a newspaper.

Hi Lori and everyone!

What is the hotkey "alt+psp"? I have never come across anything like that, so I wouldn't know what keys to hit.

Hi, Marty,

Have you made it to the page setup option in Word? I think you are using 2010? If you are not in the page layout option, use the hotkey alt+psp then control tab to get to the paper option.
Arrow down to custom; it is the final option out of many.
Then tab; you will be in page width and you have to arrow up many times to get to 8.5. Then tab to the page length. You will have to arrow up many many times to get to 22 inches.
Hope this information is what you are wanting.

Hi Folks,
The book I’m working on has very long pages. I can’t seem to figure out how to get them longer than the sizes printed as suggestions under the size tab. What do I need to do? Thanks for your help!
Marty
